WAEC Threatens To Cancel Results and prosecute Candidates Caught With Phones During Exams

Following the just concluded WAEC examination, there have been cases of malpractice activities that have taken place in some various schools.

The WAEC board has released its statement concerning the issue of malpractice activites especially those that make use of their mobile devices to get answers. WAEC has vowed to cancel results of some candidates that have fallen victim of such illegal acts.

This was contained in the statement signed by the Council Head of National Office, Olu Adenipekun announcing the commencment of WAEC GCE Second Series Registration, 2018.

According to the statement, Candidates who engage in examination malpractice will not only have their results cancelled, but may be prosecuted.

The statment noted that Candidates who wish to register for the examination after the close of entries may be accommodated as “Walk-in-Candidates” provided they register not less than twenty four hours to the scheduled time of the paper (s) they intend to write, saying their fee is 25,000. He also urged the candidates with special needs to also register online like other candidates but they must clearly state their disabilities.

The Council said candidates must ensure that their entries are correctly completed before uploading as the Council will not be held responsible for errors in  candidates particulars. According to the council, request for correction will not be entertained on any information which a candidate voluntarily gives at the point of  registration as soon as the examination commences.
